Dog friendly Moorabbin
Those of us who have furry members of the family know the pleasure of a relaxed Saturday morning coffee with a pupaccino or waterbowl for the dog. Knowing the cafés in the area that are pet-friendly is a must when you own a dog; here are a few in Moorabbin.
Chameleon Junction, 4 Station St, Moorabbin
Sitting opposite the Moorabbin Station, this is a popular place for everyone, not just pet owners. Tables are set up outside so you and pooch can get comfortable and there is a doggy menu for indulging your pet. The menu for two legged diners is pretty spectacular, and one of the breakfast options is an Irish fry-up complete with black pudding. There is also an impressive lunch and dinner menu, so no matter the time of day, you and your pup can dine together.
DakDak Cafe, Shop 2, 1-3 Bignell Rd, Moorabbin
This is a café with charisma. It has a very funky feel – the setting is an old factory and the walls are covered with retro collectibles and a lot of car memorabilia. Funky only goes so far, however, and it’s the food and service that keeps the customers satisfied. Plus, of course, you can take your dog. There are tables outside, but there’s also a small section at the front where the pooch can get out of the cold and wet. Would go back just for their thrice cooked chips but the burgers are awesome too.
The Tradesman, Shop 1, 260 Wickham Rd, Moorabbin
This café has a good outside area with tables where you and the pup can get your breakfast. As the name suggests it is located in an industrial area but that’s good luck for the tradies that work around there. The food is brilliant – a mix of traditional and original – a breakfast of Chilli Scrambled eggs will certainly kick off your day. The coffee is locally sourced and very tasty – worth the visit.
Anyone living around Moorabbin will be familiar with the Moorabbin Obedience Dog Club, a Sunday morning institution at Bricker Reserve; this club might be the perfect place to visit before breakfast on a Sunday
