Great cafés in Doreen
We have written elsewhere how wonderfully family friendly Doreen can be, but there’s a lot more to like about this suburb. Here’s just a few more reasons …
Magnolia on Orchard
This is a real hidden gem – in fact some of the people in Doreen I spoke to weren’t sure they had visited this café, which in our opinion is a big mistake. Tucked away on the corner of Elation Boulevard and Orchard Road, Magnolia on Orchard is the perfect place to start your day with a hearty and healthy breakfast. While the menu is varied, we usually can’t go past the Big Breakfast burger, which is chock full of breaky goodness! The BBQ sauce is just one delight of this burger, which will set you up with everything you need to get through a long day. There’s options that will suit all manner of foodies – vegans, gluten free eaters etc. and the coffee will keep the fussiest of connoisseurs happy.
Sometimes just walking into a café can put a smile on your face, and Jojayz Café is one of them. The service is so friendly that even on your first visit you feel like a regular. The décor os seriously old school (or as Jojayz put it ‘old skool’) but there is nothing old school about the food and coffee. A great breakfast and lunch spot or call in for ‘just a coffee and a chat’. You won’t be disappointed either way.
My Collins French English dictionary tells me that “appret” can mean “dressing”, “size” or “finish” – all of these would fit in with this lovely little café. Certainly the finish at Appret is first class – you always receive friendly, welcoming service which is speedy and efficient. No mixed up orders here. The food is delicious; the menu is diverse with something to please every taste. The lunchtime parma is a treat but for those seeking a lighter meal, try one of the salad sandwiches – yum!
