Point Cook Parks
Point Cook has a lot going for it. With a great location, close to the city and the bay, it’s the perfect spot for a day trip, and who knows? Once you see it and what it has to offer, it might make the perfect place for a relocation. Here’s a few places that might take you to Point Cook for a visit.
Point Cook Coastal Park
Located on Point Cook Homestead Road, this is a great place for the whole family. Walks along the sand, safe swimming, playgrounds and BBQs make this the spot to spend the whole day.
Start off on the beach when the sun is not too hot or walk along the sands, enjoying the view across the bay and watching out for any marine life in the shallow rock pools. Then head to the picnic area where you will find shade, seating and BBQs. Take the time for a sausage or a sandwich and maybe spend some time at the playground.
If you are a fan of walking, this is the place for you, as there are kilometres of good walking tracks outside of the beach area. If you are looking for a solid walk, then head to “The Tower”, which provides wonderful 360 degree views. As the RAAF airfield is still running, you might catch some planes taking off and landing.
The younger members of the family will absolutely love this playground, which as the name suggests, takes its theme from our little croaking friends. The centrepiece of the playground is a large fibreglass frog, which has facts inside to help lids learn about all things frogs. There are slides, rockers, steppers and tunnels that will keep your children active and engaged for a long time.
This is a pretty impressive space for a suburban park. No giant frogs, but there is a pirate ship and a supersize slide. The view from the top of the central mound where the pirate ship sits and you access the slide is worth the visit. You can gaze across the bay and the city skyline while the youngsters climb the ladders or scrambling wall.
There’s also more play equipment at the bottom, including a swing, sandpit and diggers. You can take your own sandwiches or use the BBQ, then sit in the picnic area to enjoy your lunch.
